Week Ending 04/07/24

It was a productive week for the program.

Classes worked on projects for the Mountain Top Explorium, a children's museum in Breckenridge, and continued with electric wiring for the Tiny Home. Next week, they're aiming to tackle rough plumbing and electrical tasks if all goes according to plan.

Will Devoy from Mountain Side Comfort, an SCBA member and HVAC/Plumbing contractor, generously volunteered to assist with the Mitsubishi mini-split heat/AC system for the Tiny Home.

The project remains on track for completion by the end of the school semester.

A few reminders for this week:

  • Carolanne's resume class, originally scheduled for this week, has been rescheduled to the 24th due to student testing. Volunteers are needed to conduct interviews with students during the class.

  • This Wednesday at 5 pm is the SCBA social at High Side in Frisco, sponsored by Xcel. Summit District School Superintendent Tony Byrd, High School Principal Doug Blake, and CFO Kara Drake will be attending to discuss the school district bond referendum this fall and answer questions.

  • This Friday, the school is hosting a Summer Opportunity Fair from 2 pm to 3 pm at the High School. The CIC program will have a table and will be attending.

  • High School is on Spring Break from the 15th through the 20th, so there will be no classes during that week.

Additionally, Sydney with Careers in Construction Colorado sends out a monthly update, which recently highlighted the Tiny Home project at Summit High and a career fair attended by Nick Black from the BBC for Park County High School. This update reaches over 815 CIC members statewide, providing excellent exposure for the program.
